About this Game
Soul Calibur 5 is a fighting game from Namco Bandai that was announced last May 11, 2011. The title will be released for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this year, 2012. The events in this title will be 17 years after that of Soul Calibur 4’s. Players will see Patroklos as the main protagonist. He is the son of Sophitia, which is a Soul series icon. Soul Calibur 5 will also be feauturing a guest character from another series in the person of Ezio Auditore da Firenze from Assassin’s Creed. 24 characters in all have been confirmed but Daishi Odashima has confirmed through Twitter that there will be 30 characters in all.
There are a lot of changes made on the franchise. Players won’t have to expect “Critical Finishes” for example. Armor, however, is still destructible but the game will no longer have an indicator to show just when it will break. Movements will now be more flexible with the presence of the 8 Way Run, which was already introduced in the very first Soul Calibur, as combined with the characters now being able to briskly sidestep around their opponent. This can now be done by double tapping up or down. Soul Calibur 5 remains a fighting game that showcases a clash of some colorful personalities with their own weapons, fighting styles and eccentricities.
