Max Payne 3 (Xbox 360)

Max Payne 3 could be considered as a departure to the usual world we see its main character inhabiting. Instead of being the hard-boiled detective prowling the cold streets of New York, Payne is now in the sun-drenched streets of Sao Paulo as a drunk with a telltale belly. Some things never change, however. He still has the tendency to be embroiled in some nasty business. The story is a fast forward to eight years after the second Max Payne video game. The upcoming third person shooter from Rockstar Games will be published for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Rockstar Vancouver heads the development but in collaboration with the New England, London and Toronto studios.

The series does not only change in terms of setting and storyline. Max Payne 3 is also the first of the franchise not be developed by Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment. It is also not written by series creator Sam Lake. The current lead writer is Dan Houser, who did work for Grand Theft Auto series and Red Dead Redemption. In the game, the player assumes the role of Max Payne. The game will make use of bullet-time in action sequences. This is a feature that stands out in the franchise and has been brought back in the latest installment.
