Mass Effect 2 is a BioWare action RPG published by EA for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It was released in 2010 and 2011. The second installment of the franchise is heavily affected by the events that occurred in the first Mass Effect. This means that the player can choose to import his/her original Mass Effect game and work from there. Working from scratch is not prohibited, however.
The franchise has also undergone several changes. Gone are the elevator rides, for example. The AI was also massively improved allowing more interactions that are sensitive to context. Players are equipped with ammunition and health can be regained. The original Mass Effect ended with the death of Commander Shepard. However, he/she was resurrected by Cerberus, which the Illusive Man was controlling. This is an organization that is biased for the humans and that hated all other species.
In Mass Effect 2, Commander Shepard with his multi-species (read “diverse”) team, will have to battle the Reapers who are doing their work through the Collectors, which resemble insects. Killing the Collectors might well be a dangerous if not totally suicidal mission but it is a task that Shepard and his men should undertake. The player’s decisions will ultimately decide whether Shepard and his team members will survive the fight against the Reapers via the Collectors.
