About this Game
Dark Souls is an action-adventure RPG developed and published by Japan’s From Software for PlayStation 3, and published by Namco Bandai Games for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The video game was previously called Project Dark. It is considered to be Demon’s Souls’ spiritual successor. Dark Souls was released in Japan on September 22, 2011, in North America on October 4 and in Europe on October 7.
As mentioned earlier, the title is considered to be the spiritual successor of Demon’s Souls. Like its predecessor, Dark Souls follows some sort of story but does not really rely on it. There are very few cut scenes and whatever story is ever experienced by the players are suggested but not explicitly expressed.
In the game, you will be playing one of the dark souls who are afflicted by being born under a dark sign. You are one of the Undead. You will wake up in an asylum. This is not just any type of asylum, either. This is where the undead are left to die. Of course, you won’t want that to happen and since you are taking the reigns as the player, you won’t be one of the passive Undead. It is also important to note that there is a prophecy of one member of the Undead escaping the asylum and eventually ringing the Bell of Awareness. The same member of the Undead will be tasked to take away the affliction of the dark sign.
Dark Souls is a terrifying and atmospheric game. The aura can somehow make up for the minimalistic story. The gameplay makes use of risk versus reward mechanics.
