About this Game

Bioshock is a first person shooter game with strong survival horror themes. Irrational Games developed the game that Ken Levine designed. The game launched back in 2007 for the PC and Xbox 360. The PS3 version, which was developed by different 2K studios and Digital Extremes, was released in October 2008. This version came with added features.

The game is sort of steampunk except the setting is not alternate Victorian but alternate 1960. The player, which will carry the name Jack, survives a plane crash. He will then go into Rapture, which is a city immersed in water. He must fight mutants and evil machines of Rapture to survive. Levine refers to Bioshock as the “spiritual successor” to the developer’s previous System Shock titles. The game is not just any other horror game. It manages to involve Objectivist philosophy in a setting that you will not find in any other game. The FPS slash RPG comes with stealth elements, which are understandable considering that the protagonist is in the enemy’s territory trying to fight back in order to survive. While sneaking inside Rapture territory, the protagonist can collect money along the way. Money buys him ammo, more equipment and health. Meanwhile, in-game audio recordings reveal more about Rapture as the game progresses.

Bioshock is widely received well by critics for its unique and compelling premise.
