About this Game
MLB 12 – The Show is a video game based on Major League Baseball. Sony San Diego developed the title while SCE published and released it on March 6, 2012 for the PS3, as well as the new handheld gaming device, PlayStation Vita. It is an all-Sony affair for the franchise’s first ever offering that comes with PlayStation Move support.
Boston Red Sox’s first baseman, Adrian Gonzales was chosen as the game’s cover athlete. He earned it well after his successful 2011 season with 27 home runs out of 117 batting runs and a .338 batting score. Curiously, he is the third player from his team that was chosen as the MLB cover athlete, after David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia, who represented for MLB 06 – The Show and MLB 09 – The Show, respectively.
Word has it, however, that Canadian versions of the game will have a different cover, one which will showcase Jose Bautista, who is right fielder/third baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays. He also had a stellar 2011 season with 43 home runs out of 102 runs batted.
