About this Game
Driver – San Francisco is a free-roaming action driving video game. It was developed by Ubisoft Reflections and published by Ubisoft. The game was announced at the E3 20120 and was finally released on September 1, 2011 in Australia, on September 2, 2011 in Europe and on September 6 in North America for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Microsoft Windows version was released later on September 27.
The events in this particular title happen six months after that of Driv3r’s. In Driver – San Francisco, players discover that John Tanner and Charles Jericho survived the Istanbul shootout. Jericho, after recovering, escaped to San Francisco with the help of hired assassin Leila Sharan. Tanner and Tobias Jones went to pursue him there. Most of the game, however, is actually within Tanner’s dream while in a coma.
The coma part of the story is not, however, just part of a tired ploy. It does not remain in the realm of “Oh, it was just a dream”. It actually allowed Tanner to discover an ability to somehow “shift” into someone else’s body. He is still Tanner this way but he will look and sound quite different. Tanner uses his power to help teens win races for college fees and even to help police officers hunt down criminals.
Players can also shift to any car in the game given enough points. So, shifting is not just in terms of how Tanner looks like. Driver – San Francisco also has an online multiplayer mode.
