About this Game
Deus Ex – Human Revolution is a sci-fi action RPG developed by Eidos Montreal and published by Square Enix. It was released on August 2011, being the third game of the Deus Ex franchise. It is also, however, a prequel to the original 2000 game. The title is set in 2027, which makes it 25 years earlier than the first title despite being set in our future. The year sees multinationals ruthlessly developing operations that could no longer be controlled by national governments.
The protagonist of the game is Adam Jensen. He has just been hired as the director of a biotechnology firm’s in-house security. The firm, called Sarif Industries, specializes in human cybernetic enhancement. Its Detroit-based headquarters was attacked by terrorists, leaving Jensen severely wounded. Jensen is then forced to go through some pretty radical life-saving surgeries. Large portions of his body had to be replaced by prostheses. Upon recovery, he seeks those who have attacked Sarif Industries and who have left him almost dead.
Human Revolution has received critical acclaim because of its open-ended nature and the large availability of social interaction. The game also makes use of different “pillars of gameplay,” namely Combat, Stealth, Hacking and Social. The cyberpunk game also features a new regenerative health system.
