About this Game
Bioshock Infinite, which was formerly called “Project Icarus” is an upcoming first person shooter with RPG elements. It is the third installment in the Bioshock franchise and expected to be a 2012 release for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Infinite is set in an earlier time period and in a different setting than its predecessors. Players will find themselves in the air-city of Columbia that has an overall steampunk or Edwardian vibe. So in a way, it is not a direct sequel and it is not a prequel, either. It is, however, part of the franchise, so it comes with the same gameplay themes and concepts. The year is 1912, protagonist is Booker De Witt, former Pinkerton agent and his apparent main task is to save a woman. A straighforward objective at first glance.
But things are more complicated in the dystopian world of Columbia, however, with a theocratic government taking control and race relations somewhat strained, dangers are just around the corner. DeWitt has been tasked to save a woman named Elizabeth who has been held captive in the air city for twelve years. It seems that there is more to her, than what meets the eye, especially her powers which are believed to be capable of ending the long conflict. A robotic bird-like creature called songbird has been guarding Elizabeth as both friend and warden and songbird is not all all happy with you taking Elizabeth away. DeWitt, as protagonist, also comes with powers and abilities that he has gained through some nostrums and vigors he collects in Columbia. This means, he is well prepared to meet the challenges of Columbia. As a special treat, BioShock - Infinite will come with a "1999 Mode", in which decisions may cause irreparable damage.
