About this Game
The Action adventure game Batman - Arkham City builds on the foundations laid by Arkham Asylum - open world gameplay system and dark, gritty, game world play. The atmospherics of this game doesn't depart much from the "Dark Knight" period of Batman comics which dates from the 80's onwards.
The game has a main story plot and many side missions which can also form their own side plot branches. The main story of Arkham City focuses on Batman's imprisonment in Arkham City. It is written by the same writer who handled Arkham Asylum, Paul Dini. The developers are Rocksteady and the game id published by Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment.
While based on the solid foundations of its predecessor title, Arkham City does bring a few new things to the table - it uses a much larger map (five times larger than Arkham Asylum) and the map offers greater content diversity and moods (divided up into differing locations, districts, and landmarks all based on Gotham City). Another key change is that Batman acts as a guardian who seeks to prevent accidents/mishaps/crime from happening all over this chaotic enclosed system. Of course, the Joker has other plans - he is the cause of much of the crime in Arkham City.
Casting Batman's challenges with the Riddler in terms of psychological challenges is a great move and gives the game a more strategic feel. Due to its excellent development, fidelity to the Batman canon, and excellent gameplay, this title has received almost universal critical acclaim. Batman - Arkham City was released on October 18, 2011.
