Xbox 360: Next Gen Console Referenced By Microsoft Employee
The industry’s worst kept secret got an unexpected airing when a Microsoft employee referred to the company’s next console in an interview about the future of the beleaguered email service Hotmail.
According Brian Hall, general manager of Windows Live, Windows 8 will bring with it a whole slew of new products. Speaking to The Verge Hall said “We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about 16 years. We obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work. We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office, with the new Windows Phone and the new Xbox.”
Exciting as this sounds for Xbox fans, according to Microsoft this isn’t the full story. In a press released issued after the interview was made public, Microsoft were keen to state that the comments made by Hall were taken out of the context that they were meant. Microsoft insisted that Hall had been referring to Microsoft’s latest technical development, Xbox Smartglass, which turns any touch screen mobile device into a Wii U style controller for the Xbox. It sounds like Microsoft had to call the fire department to dowse this fire.
