The Witcher 2 – Assassins of Kings: Second Dev Diary is Great But a Bit Spoilery
Namco Bandai, in association with the developers CD Projekt RED have release the second installment of their Witcher 2 – Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition developer diary. As a new comer to the Witcher franchise I have been eagerly consuming any new media that comes my way about the Witcher 2 – Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition however the video is a little spoilery.
The video offers us a first glimpse at the opening scenes of the new game and the Polish development team talk about the decisions behind the plot, art-style and the challenges faced by creating such an epic game. If you don’t mind a spoiler or two you can enjoy the brand new cinematic cutscenes that outline the plot and also take a detailed look at the cinematic prologue. Not much of actual gameplay is shown though, so despite the cinematics looking amazing, I guess time will tell if the gameplay enhancements can hold up to the artistic merit of the filler material. The developers qualify the decision to include the intro scene in the dev diary as the prologue is known very early on into the normal edition of the Witcher 2 – Assassins of Kings that was released back in 2011 and that it is just the first time that gamers will be able to see the pre-history.
Some censorship has taken place though as alongside curse-words some character names have been bleeped. All in all the game is looking pretty tidy. What do you think about Namco Bandai releasing an enhanced version of the Witcher 2 – Assassins of Kings? Are you looking forward to re-living the adventures of the iconic, white – haired Geralt of Riva or are the publishers just milking the cash cow dry?
