The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim: Hearthfire DLC On Xbox Live
Sneaky, sneaky Bethesda have snuck out a DLC for The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim that has really taken the industry by surprise. The new DLC is called Hearthfire and costs just 400 Microsoft points.
Based on the price we don’t expect that the DLC will be as enormous as the Dawnguard expansion, that added whole new quests and two different storylines or, at least, two halves of the same storyline. The new Hearthfire DLC gives you the ability to build your own house in the beautiful land that is Skyrim. The actual building process looks quite modular, you can choose from a variety of different houses, but the choice is not one hundred percent free.
You also can’t just build anywhere, there are pre-set plots of land that you can purchase. Then you can go about building your house, and crafting new items to decorate it. Some really neat features are the ability to build a trophy room and a new wing to the house, called the west wing.
It seems that Bethesda are really playing on the family theme with this DLC. Among the fany neat features is the entirely new idea that you and your spouse can adopt a child and bring them to live in your home. It is a nice idea, it is just a shame that all of the child characters in the game are so incredibly annoying.
Anyway, do you think you will be purchasing this DLC? Do you think that Bethesda could have done more to promote it? So far the expansion is only available on Xbox Live from September 4th. The other platforms will just have to wait. And if you are a PS3 user, you might be waiting a very long time, if the Dawnguard DLC is anything to go by.
