Skullgirls: Sales Better Than Expected
The 2D fighting game Skullgirls has been released just over 10 days and already sale have exceeded expectations. According to a tweet by the official Reverge twitter account, the developers are pleased by the amount of copies the download only title has shifted. In a short space of time the title has sold over 50,000 copies.
In comparison to titans like Call of Duty . Modern Warfare 3, or The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim, these figures seem fairly small. But Skullgirls is a completely new IP, and it is building its fanbase up from scratch. What makes the figures even more impressive is that the title is yet to be released for PlayStation in Europe. Reverge are hoping that once this happens they will see another sizeable chunk of sales. The title is a very curious mix of the Wii title MadWorld, the stalwart Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls has the sexy badass/ super sweet style of Chainsaw Lollipop, and yet it also has something entirely of its own. The storyline isn’t much to go on but that really doesn’t matter, as it is really just an excuse to beat up some bad guys and girls. There are a lot of skimpy outfits too if that is your sort of thing. It’s not mine but there we go. That’s life.
