Silent Hill – HD Collection Pushed Back to March 20th
Konami is pushing back the launch date of Silent Hill HD Collection again. This time, the bundle is supposed to hit store shelves come March 20th. Fans of the survival horror classic will have to erase their previous sales date and pencil in March 20. This is the second time this title has been pushed back.
Originally, it was supposed to creep into our waking nightmares in January. Then it was delayed to March 6. Now, it’s gone to March 20. Konami might be blowing a golden marketing opportunity since the latest installment in the Silent Hill series, Silent Hill – Downpour is slated to be released on March 13th. Having the previous version’s HD version drop on March 6 would have added an extra marketing punch for Downpour. Also, Book of Memories for the Vita will be launched on March 27th. I’m not sure if the HD collection’s launch in between the titles will do much to boost either new title’s prospects. Regardless, the digital launch of the HD collection is scheduled to take place after March 20th.
The Silent Hill series has grown quite a fan base due to its effective horror format and suspense pacing. Indeed, it has developed such an effective system of portraying horror in video games that its pacing and horror standard has been followed by other horror/suspense/thriller games.
