Silent Hill – Downpour: Designer Quits The Project
Family matters to Brian Gomez, the design director for Silent Hill – Downpour. He just walked out on the project to be closer to family. Also, the constant commuting from LA to Brno, Czech Republic’s second largest city, must have taken its toll. Brno, by the way, is home to developer Vatra Games. Gomez sent a letter to the Silent Hill Historical Society. This is what he said: “When it was announced that Downpour was being delayed to 2012, my family and I came to the decision to that I couldn’t keep making the commute between Los Angeles and Brno for another four to six months.”
He did reassure fans that he is finished with most of the work assigned to him and the game is now in good hands. This is what he had to say: “Downpour is so close to completion, there’s not a lot more that I can personally do for the project that Devin, Tomm, and Marek Berka cannot handle on their own. I gave my notice a few weeks ago, setting Halloween as my last day.”
Gomez had not specified yet what he will be doing next but said that he will be focusing on horror. He said that he will be on the lookout for survival horror projects. He said that he has a lot of things he wanted to do. Silent Hill – Downpour will be delayed from its November 2011 slot to a 2012 one. It is the eighth instalment from the franchise. It follows Murphy Pendleton, a convict. At the beginning of the game, Pendleton will be lost alone in the woods near Silent Hill. His prison transport bus has just crashed. What will happen to him?
