Resident Evil Operation – Raccoon City: Slant Six games leaves military impact
Video games are similar to books. Regardless of genre, every book has the imprint of its author. For example, if Hemingway were commissioned to write a cookbook, you know that cookbook would share in Hemingway’s epic individualism and struggles.
There’s no escaping the personality that a particular author leaves on a book regardless of the genre. The same is true for video games. Take Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City for example Slant Six Games is known primarily for taking over Zipper Interactive in the development of the SOCOM series. This design studio knows the military game genre inside and out. That’s why its work for Capcom’s Resident Evil: Raccoon City has a distinctly militaristic feel to it.
Just as you can’t separate a writer’s style and emphasis from his book, you can’t separate the developer from its game. Based on the military images in the Raccoon City trailer, Slant Six Games puts a bit more military precision and atmosphere to an otherwise Resident Evil story line and ambience. In particular, we liked the handling of the assault team and the bio organic weapons division. It looks like Capcom picked the right development company for this latest installment of the highly respected Resident Evil franchise title.
