Resident Evil – Operation Raccoon City: New Trailer Introduces USS Team characters
Survival horror shooter, Resident Evil 6 – Operation Racoon City is up for release in less than two months. The title’s publisher, Capcom, is busily dotting its i’s and crossing it’s t’s in anticipation of this release. What’s not to get excited about? The Resident Evil series has tons of fans the world over and is quite a brand name in the horror shooter genre. Indeed, it’s got such franchise loyalty and a large enough fan base as to warrant a Hollywood movie. Still, Capcom doesn’t want to leave anything to chance, in this day and age of game saturation and cutthroat developer competition.
To reacquaint us with the storyline of their upcoming opus, Capcom has released a new trailer that introduces the latest installment’s characters. The video also clues us in regarding the story timeline of the upcoming game. According to the trailer, in 1998 the Umbrella group deployed an elite squad to Raccoon City. The USS was tasked with covering up Umbrella’s activities.
There’s quite a bit to cover up since Umbrella weaponized a virus that threatens the world’s health by turning people into zombies. The USS team’s goal is simple-intercept and contain the virus. The team is composed of Lupo-an assault specialist, Vector,-the recon master, Bertha the medic, Four-Eyes the Field Scientist, and demolition expert Beltway. Overall, the video does a deft job of quickly getting us up to speed on where we are in the Resident Evil canon and also reminding us why the series has so many fans. The trademark action moves, snipe shots, and brooding ambient evil is all there for new and old series fans to enjoy.
