Prey 2: Third developer commentary trailer released
Prey 2 has a new trailer out and it depicts the series’ new hero,Killion, chasing his target. The target appeared to have teleported. There’s no need to worry though since Killion has his own bag of tricks and cool abilities as well. He can jump, he can shoot over edges, he can grab edges, he can throw gadgets, and he can do a very awesome move called the “Gravity Wave.”
He can pull enemies out of cover to expose them. Once they are exposed you can take them down. Killion’s target is very slick though. Through the teleport ability, Killion’s prey can get away very quickly. This is where player strategy plays a big role. Killion has to find a different way to catch his prey.
This trailer is very interesting. The lighting reminds me of the bluish/dark murky environment of Ridley Scott’s classic movie, Blade Runner. Apparently, according to Human Head studios, every move Killion perfoms in this trailer can be done in the game. Quite a refreshing change from the standard cut scene trailer aimed more at getting the viewer to say “Wow” than actually get an intimate feel of the range of motion, diverse actions, and other gameplay features of the actual game itself.
That’s one aspect of many other game’s trailers – there’s a sort of “bait and switch.” We’re treated to awesome moves and graphics but these are either watered down in the actual game or entirely nonexistent. Prey 2′s philosophy is different and that is what makes Prey 2 a first person shooter title that is worth keeping your eye on.
