MLB 2K12: Over 900 Perfect Games Ends the Promotion
Close to one million attempts were made to try and score $1 million in 2K Sports’ Perfect Game promotions. All told, contest participants made 942,895 attempts to get a perfect game in Major League Baseball 2K12 throughout the competition. The tourney began April 4 and ended on April 30.
Of all these attempts, 900 perfect games were achieved. Others are still being verified. Those figures come in at roughly 1:1000. Once the remaining games are verified, 2K Sports will announce the final eight finalists who will compete for the $1 million prize. While these numbers may look hard or restrictive, keep in mind that the MLB 2K12 competition factors in physical skill. As we reported earlier, the competition figures not only your win ratio but also your bad gestures and pitch form. It is not just a matter of getting the other guy to strike out. It is also about how you threw your pitch. This takes the game away from a sloppy and dirty “ends justifies the means” type of competition to one that focuses on ideal forms, pitch quality, and sticking to standards.

Given the tight restrictions on form as well as statistical requirements, you have got to respect the folks that make it through the elimination process. These competitors definitely know how to play a perfect game.
