Max Payne 3: Trailer Highlights the Transitions Between Cinematics and Gameplay
More than a few Max Payne series fans were disappointed by the latest installment’s move away from the series’ film noir style. If you have been nursing a slight to mild disappointment with Max Payne 3 because of its evolution past its film noir fundamentals, check out the latest trailer for the upcoming game. It just might help you get over your disappointment. How? Its focus on becoming a “uniquely cinematic action game” just might win you over.
What’s so different about this approach? The transitions from cutscenes to game action and from chapter to chapter all go very smoothly - all done without annoying loading screens. Nice evolution. Talk about getting one step closer to a movie-like gaming experience.
What bowled us over is the smooth transitions between chapters. It alters the whole experience of the game. The trailer also brings to life the graphic novel-esque storyboards which were used in the previous two installments to push the game’s plot along. While many fans loved those storyboards, the new seamless system looks refreshing, engaging, and definitely gets us curious as to its impact on the overall game experience. As we reported earlier, the game doesn’t veer far from its previous proven ability to deliver lots of graphic action to the ‘small screen’.
Framing the same emotional intensity that put the Max Payne series on the map, the new seamless system looks like a very positive development indeed.
