Mass Effect 3: What if BioWare had Reached out over Tali’s Face Design?
Tali’s unmasking in Mass Effect 3 is one of this year’s biggest source of gaming intrigue and excitement. Finally, this fan favorite series fixture was going to be unmasked in the latest installment of the long-running popular science fiction action adventure game. As we reported earlier, the unmasking of Tali disappointed quite a few series fans.
Despite the history-making significance of the event, many fans found Tali’s face to be disappointing. And why shouldn’t they be disappointed? They have followed her evolution from her chatty and immature persona in the first Mass Effect to a more emotionally and intellectually “with it” Tali in Mass Effect 2. Indeed, Mass Effect 2 made her one of the most popular characters in the Mass Effect canon and quite a popular love interest for the male version of Commander Shepard. After all this build up, fans were let down when her image was revealed in Mass Effect through a photoshopped image of a stock photo left on Shepard’s bedside.

There was no in-game reveal using the character model. The reveal struck many Tali fans as very lazy and doesn’t do justice to their continued loyal following of this character. Thankfully, many fans have come up with their own less disappointing renditions of what Tali should look like without her mask. Given the amount of time and love that went into this effort, the concepts fans produced are definitely less disappointing than the modified stock photo used by Bioware.
