Mass Effect 3: Game Ending Petition Raises $35K for Child’s Play
As we have reported earlier, there is a movement among Mass Effect 3 players to have Bioware change the ending of the game. The game poses 3 possibilities for players. Players have deemed all 3 options as unacceptable. Yikes. And they are angry. So much so that there is Retake Mass Effect petition that is currently ongoing.
The campaign has raised quite a ruckus in the press. Keep in mind that not all the press attention so far has been good. So the organizers have decided to highlight the positive aspect of their campaign by setting up a simultaneous donation drive for the Child’s Play charity. So far, the new game ending petition/charity drive has drummed up $35,000 and the figure continues to rise. In fact, the figure continues to rise every minute. According to the petition group, the move was aimed at dispelling notions that the campaigners are angry or are feeling entitled. They said they just wish to simply air out their hope that the much-beloved Mass Effect series’ latest game will be given a different direction. The problem with such petitions is there is sure to be a backlash. No matter how seemingly clear cut you think your position is, there will usually be a counterpoint. Regardless, it is a good thing that the organizers tied the campaign to raising funds for charity. Way to produce some positivity out of an otherwise divided situation.
