Hitman – Absolution: Another Game Trademark Discovered in European Site
What do publishers like to own more of? Well, it seems that they like registering trademarks. Just ask Square Enix Europe, which has been churning out trademarked products. Square Enix has Hitman Sniper Challenge as its latest trademark discovered by Siliconera. This trademark has come out just a month after the website also found a Hitman – Profession trademark in the European database. But discovering a trademark is just the first small chunk of the puzzle. The next part is even more interesting. It should answer the questions, ‘What is it?’ and ‘What is it for?’
So what is this Hitman Sniper Challenge referring to? What does it signify? We can only resort to speculations right now. Based on the name of the trademark itself, we can think of an actual physical tournament wherein gamers play with toy guns. Our thoughts may also head on over to a sort of spin-off of the Hitman series, which will highlight the shooting alone. At the moment though, we know that a new Hitman game is being produced at the Montreal Square Enix studio, as supervised by IO. The developer is finishing up Hitman – Absolution, which is set to release this year. The trademark could be anything because Square Enix can certainly do some work that can make Agent 47 cross media boundaries.

There is a myriad of opportunities. There is even a book coming out that will serve as a prequel to Absolution and a follow-up to another Hitman title. There could be other media opportunities, not just in terms of the obvious and usual merchandise. Even with this in mind though, we still would like to know more about the trademark and what it represents. We certainly don’t want to die out of curiosity. Absolution will be out sometime this year. Date confirmation is yet to be made.
