Hitman 5 – Absolution: Upcoming Game Gets Own Prequel Novel
Here is some good news for gamers who also like to read. There will be a prequel novel soon to be released that is based on the Hitman franchise of video games. This will be collaboration between Square Enix and Random House. The title of the novel will be Hitman – Damnation. The novel will be encompassing the events that have taken place between the game Hitman – Blood Money and the upcoming Hitman – Absolution. So, the novel is more like a tie-in to all the Hitman games but is especially a prequel to Absolution.
James Bond author Raymond Benson is taking over the project as a writer. He has some experience with writing video game tie-in novels, especially on a game that has an action theme. Action seems to be his forte. He even wrote the Homefront tie-in novel, which was published last year. Del Rey Books will be publishing Hitman – Damnation. Del Rey is a division of Random House that has always been tasked to publish game novelizations. In the past, it has published tie-in novels for Halo and even for a film series, Sam Raimi’s Spiderman. Del Rey also published a series of tie-in novels for Batman Begins.
You can check out Hitman – Damnation in North American book stores in the summer of 2012. There is still no word as to when the book will be released internationally. The game, Hitman – Absolution is set to be launched on PC and both consoles, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year.

If you want to get into Agent 47’s psyche more, you may want to check out the prequel novel. However, it is also a possibility that an action writer will focus more on what is going on than what Agent 47 is thinking or feeling. Guess you will just find out this summer.
