Grand Theft Auto 5: Pachter Predicts a Pre E3 Announcement
Wedbush Morgen analyst and industry loud mouth Michael Pachter has stuck his neck out by predicting that Rockstar won’t wait for E3 to announce the first real Grand Theft Auto 5 details. Instead he feels that the developer’s absence from the show over the last previous years indicates that Rockstar feel they have outgrown it.
Pachter believes that Rockstar are planning to reveal the first Grand Theft Auto 5 details the day before E3 starts. The day before E3 being Sunday June 3rd. He thinks that doing this would make the biggest splash. For Rockstar it would mean a real kick in the teeth to the competition if they announce their next AAA title the day before E3, don’t turn up to the show, but leave people talking about their game and not about the competitors. It certainly sounds like Pachter has a point here. Pachter has noticed a trend of Rockstar “stealing the thunder from everything else”. That is one thing that will be certain when Rockstar do give us more details about Grand Theft Auto 5 there will be a storm. Microsoft and Sony have their press talks on Monday June 4th.
Pachter has placed himself squarely in the camp that says that Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on October 23rd, paying no head to the fact that Bioshock – Infinate will come out then. Pachter thinks that Rockstar are not worried about Bioshock, but we here at GameBandits beg to differ. We feel that Rockstar are very concerned with making sure that their games get the best release position possible. Which is why we think that we haven’t heard anything about Grand Theft Auto 5 yet – because Rockstar wants to save all the hype for the imminent release of Max Pyne 3, which hits the shelves May 15th.
