Fable – The Journey: Latest rumors indicate 2013 release date?
Soon after Lionhead Studios finished the Fable 3 trilogy, fans began wondering how Peter Molyneux and company could top off that thrilling Fable trilogy ride. While Lionhead did announce that their next project will be the Kinect-centric Fable 4 – The Journey, series fans may have a long way to wait until they can motion their favorite spells into existence or drive their horse and buggy through the vast wonder-filled expanses of Albion.
According to the October issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, Fable 4 – The Journey isn’t due until 2013. The good news is that the Fable series will continue. The bad news is all the waiting time. If you look at it from the developers’ perspective, that’s actually a short amount of time. We’re talking about a whole new Kinect-enabled experience here, after all. Quite a large undertaking on Lionhead’s part.

Since Fable 4 – The Journey wishes to show the world how Kinect can make “regular” games fun, intriguing, and engaging, the development process has to be given time. Indeed, as Molyneux’s experience in E3 already showed, there are some potential minefields out there (regarding Fable 4 – The Journey being considered a game on rails). Navigating the mine fields and totally reworking the playing experience to fully bring out Kinect’s power takes a lot of time. Given the amount of heavy lifting the development team is taking on I’m just thankful the game is launching so soon.
