Excavations trailer has been released
Its rich dynamic animation chronicles the whole Dead Space franchise’s back story and sets the stage for the latest installment of the series: Dead Space 2 Excavations. Faced with depleted resources and possible extinction on Earth, humans set out to into the depths of space looking for “rich new worlds waiting to be cracked open and stripped bare.”
The most notable of these planet crackers was the USG Ishimura which explored Aegis 7. Previously restricted for unknown reasons, deep within Aegis 7, an artifact, the Red Marker, was found that was thought to be the “key to human immortality.” Or so humans thought. Instead, the artifact “did not bring salvation. It brought doom.” The artifact caused the human explorers who discovered it to turn into monstrous and murderous Necromorphs. The survivors of the Necromorph attacks fled to the ship Ishimura. However, the infestation followed the survivors, and the Ishimura went silent. The Corporation which owned the Ishimura sent a recovery crew to check up on the ship.
One of the members of the recovery crew was Isaac Clarke, who discovered that the Necromorph infestation could be stopped with the use of the Red Marker. Dead Space 2 picks up from Isaac’s escape from the Ishimura and the time he woke up from a coma on Titan Station. He has survived–”but his mind is no longer safe” because the Marker “changes all.”
