Dragon Age 3: Game Should Take Hints From Other Fantasy RPGs
The next title in the Dragon Age franchise may actually take a turn for the different. Apparently, BioWare is taking a look at The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim for some inspiration. BioWare CEO and co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka actually said that, “[The next Dragon Age] is gonna have the best of features from the prior Dragon Age games, but it’s also gonna have a lot of things I think players are gonna find compelling from some of the games that are out now that are doing really well with more of an open world feel.”
Muzyka and is team are very frank in saying that they are checking Skyrim out “aggressively” because they like the game and are also fans of Bethesda and the game itself. The BioWare team believes that they can come up with a genuinely awesome game by taking original Dragon Age features and mixing them up with ideas that they are borrowing from Skyrim. Dragon Age will especially be incorporating the open world structure that Skyrim is known for. Usually, BioWare’s games are very linear with a tight script that may not be compatible with what you call a “sandbox” style game. Skyrim is so vast and complex that there is so much to explore but it does have to suffer a bit with a looser main plot, compared to games such as Mass Effect 2.

The problem is that Dragon Age is not really doing as well as Mass Effect in terms of both sales and reviews. So, it is going to be veered into a different direction. There are even whispers that the next instalment will be coming with an arena-based multiplayer that will use Battlefield 3’s Frostbite 2 Engine. Players can either be dragons or humans. Please do remember that Dragon Age 3 has not been officially announced yet.
