Diablo 3: The Barbarian Comes When Darkness Falls and Heroes Rise
Blizzard may have taken their sweet time bringing us Diablo 3 but at least their marketing department is not keeping us in the dark. Following on from the release of the Demon Hunter trailer video Blizzard invite us to take a closer look at the Barbarian class.
The Barbarians are the guardians of Mount Arreat. They are a dual-wielding class of fighter. Players can choose from either a male Barbarian with rugged, weather features or a female Barbarian with flaming red hair. Both character’s naturally have the same build as the Barbarian class in the previous two Diablo 3 games, although not all of the skills have been transferred. Grim Ward for example has not been transferred but the missing skills have been replaced by more primal moves. The trailer details the lore of the barbarians to a certain extent. This race is driven to wander the world devoid of the pride their race once had and full of guilt that their mountain-side civilization was destroyed. The character that the player will embody (male or female) is a rather more hopeful character. This character strives to bring the Barbarian culture back to the position it once held.
The Barbarian is a ruthless class, described in the trailer as a one-man army. During battle the Barbarian builds up primal energy in the form of fury, which makes attacks even more potent. The Barbarian uses muscle and brute force to defeat foes. Literally sweeping hordes of demons aside with two-handed or melee attacks. The Barbarians’ incredible strength means that they can wear heavy steal armor that makes them almost invincible, and even when things get too much the Barbarians can let out a battle cry that fuels their fury and fortifies defences. It is certainly going to be tricky to choose which class to play as when the game is released next month.
