Deadlight: New Zombie Title Grabs Attention
With so many zombie-themed video games going around, you might think that there is no more room for another one. But DeadLight for Xbox Live Arcade just might prove you wrong. Why? Well, for one the title took on a rarer video game genre as a horror puzzle-platformer. If you are familiar with both Left 4 Dead and Shadow Complex then you may get a little bit of an idea of what to expect.
Deadlight was developed by Tequila Works in Madrid and published by Microsoft Studios. As is typical with zombie games, the game is set in what Microsoft phrases as a “post-apocalyptic world where survival is much more than a daily routine”. You, as the player, will play a weather-beaten and unkempt man who happens to kill zombies while attempting to “cross the American West Coast”. If you have seen the game’s teaser trailer then you get to have an idea of just who you will be playing as and in what world you will be doing all the fighting. Speaking of the teaser trailer, it provides you with a glimpse of the animation that the developers are capable of. The trailer is pretty cinematic. The protagonist, who has been modelled realistically looks tired and beaten but still eager to continue to quest to survival.
We have to admit that we have become more curious about another zombie-themed video game after watching the teaser. However, there are not a lot to go on for now and details about the game are scarce. In fact, we don’t even know yet if this is a side scroller. It feels that way because the protagonist is shown to be moving on one plane against a still background. What do you think?
