Dead Space 3: Game Outed by South African Retailer
BT Games, the South African game retailer has done it again. It has outed yet another highly anticipated game title whose publisher wants to keep hush hush (well, at least publicly-it might all be just part of a nicely executed anticipation marketing campaign).
The highly anticipated space horror survial fps Dead Space series’ next installment, Dead Space 3 has not yet been officially announced. That hasn’t stopped BT Games from starting to take pre-orders for the title. IGN has posted photo evidence of the retailer’s listing of Dead Space 3 online. Of course, the original listing has since been altered. Originally, the listing straight out says the title of the game. Now the title mentions “the latest release of the Dead Space franchise.” Ever notice the huge number of foreign retailers or foreign branches of American retailers committing these pre-announcement marketing faux pas? Ever notice that once word gets out about the listing, the original listing is either pulled or altered?

This isn’t the first time BT Games gained some notoriety for leaking unannounced games. It outed the Jak and Daxter HD Collection a full month before that game’s official announcement. If that wasn’t awesome enough, BT Games also let the gaming world in on Mass Effect 3′s multiplayer feature before it was officially announced. Recently, the retailer also listed God of War 4. BT’s reveal of Dead Space 3 was not the first reveal of that game. It was inadvertently, it seems, revealed by an Israeli news show last September when they showed the game’s artwork.
