WWE ’13: The Edge Might not Make the Roster?
WWE wrestling star, Edge’s contract expired on April 30. Things are still far from certain if he will re-sign with WWE as his agent and the company were in negotiations. They were trying to iron out details of a “Legends” type of contract. Edge passed over WWE’s offer. The wrestler will officially part ways with WWE. Where does this leave his appearance in WWE ’13?
The issue boils down to the “Legends” contract. In a Legends arrangement, even if the former WWE talent is with another company, they can still appear in a WWE licensed game as well as product merchandising like toys and clothing. Notable Legends contract performers include Rob Van Dam, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan, all of TNA. Since Edge bypassed the negotiations regarding a possible Legends contract, things are unclear. WWE apparently wanted a Legends contract for Edge so the wrestler can still be a part of its video game talent roster. Both Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin have Legends contracts which enable them to appear periodically in wrestling simulation video games. All this despite the two talents have retired from wrestling competition.

Edge designed to bypass the whole process because he felt he was not getting paid enough as a WWE talent. Shawn Michaels rakes in $300,000 annually for his deal with the WWE yet the wrestling entertainment company was offering a much significantly smaller number to Edge for essentially the same type of contract. While it is still possible for WWE ’13 to feature Edge, given the details of the contract negotiations above and the impact of Edge’s actions, it appears unlikely the wrestler will make it to this year’s WWE title.
