WWE ’12: Does the Rock Still Beat Cena in Popularity Contests?

There is plenty of video game action for wrestling fans lately. They can check out WWE 12 or WrestleFest, or both if they cannot get enough out of the sport. Because wrestling topics are pretty timely for the developer/publisher, THQ surveyed WWE gaming fans about their preferences. Would they rather play as The Rock or as John Cena? THQ posed this question in Facebook, probably in hopes of eliciting more responses.

So, what were the results like? The results were actually pretty close perhaps because both of the two wrestlers have their own fan following. However, The Rock reigned supreme in the popularity survey. More wrestling gamers still want to play as The Rock instead of as John Cena. While this is being written, Dwayne Johnson also known as The Rock has 3,434 votes while John Cena has 3,012 votes. The distance has been bridged a little because for a time, Cena had about 2,800 votes to The Rock’s about 3,300 votes. Just so you know, THQ had also declared CM Punk as the most popular WWE 12 Superstar over them all. If you visit the WWE 12 page at Facebook, you may read some snarky comments coming from both sides. It is also interesting to note that The Rock is so popular that he has been added to WWE 12’s Collector’s Edition. The poster for the game is shown with the tag line “The People has Spoken.” What do you think of The Rock winning over John Cena in terms of popularity points? Well, it looks like both wrestlers are very popular.

Cena is even closing in on The Rock as of the moment. Fans from both sides are also willing to defend their chosen champion to the end maybe through the war of words and ultimately through playing the chosen character in WWE 12.
