WWE’13: Bridging the Gap with John Laurinaitis
You have to hand it to WWE and professional wrestling. In no other sport is the manager and referee not just part of the game’s management and rules keeping, they can also participate in the action. Who hasn’t seen WWE managers cross the line from vocal promoter and manager to participant in some ringside action? How about referees who make a call, get harassed and challenged, and feel obliged to deal some good old ring side beat down? Given these peculiar and entertaining facts about professional wrestling, it is high time to turn WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent Relations.
Our friends at captainstarball have had a rather interesting idea. Mr John Laurinaitis is a good candidate for crossing the line between behind the scenes wrestling talent manager come ringside performer. Why? While he started out as a relatively non-descript and undistinguished wrestler in the 80s as “Johnny Ace,” he went on to become the head talent guy for WWE and quite a bad guy for WWE fans. In fact, people love to hate this guy so much that he is about to face off with the much loved John Cena in the upcoming PPV event, Over the Limit. Given his shenanigans and successful performance of the “manager as bad guy” character, he would be a great playable character for WWE ’13. Given the need to keep the wrestling simulation WWE video game series fresh and appealing, featuring John Laurinaitis would be a good move. A really great idea guys!
