The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim: Dawnguard Officially Announced
Not so long ago Bethesda were caught trade marking the term “Dawnguard” which of course sent the DLC rumor mill into overdrive. Bethesda have been tight lipped for a long time reguarding the DLC though they did tease everyone recently with an image of Corvo from Dishonored, as he was looking rather a lot like a Nord.
Despite all the teasing and build up the reveal was rather understated. Bethesda merely uploaded the first official Dawnguard poster on their official blog and confirmed that the DLC will be available this summer. They also stated that the DLC will only be available for the Xbox 360. Well, hopefully this will just be at first. Bethesda signed an exclusivity contract with Microsoft guaranteeing them a 30 day head start on the content. This is because Microsoft and Bethesda have been working together to implement Kinect connectivity with The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim. I have to admit I am personally more than a little sour about this. I like to play Skyrim on my PC and I honestly couldn’t care less about Kinect. PS3 users have already suffered all sorts of issues with the game, including the save game lag. Yes, it may only be 30 days, but it adds insult to injury.

Consolation is that the DLC should be well worth the wait. Todd Howard has said all along that any Skyrim DLC will be really substantial and feel more like an extension pack that a few little tidbits. Recently spotted update data point to Dawnguard including snow elves, crossbows, and vampire updates. All eyes will be on Bethesda at E3 when they reveal more.
