The Darkness 2: New Quad Wielding Trailer Video
The Darkness 2 has a new video out and it is quite trippy. It features quad wielding. No, you read that right. Quad wielding. As in four ways to deal out damage. The Darkness 2 is quite a break from the standard two hand first person shooter game. The video shows the player’s character taking out enemies with two demonic appendages on either side of the screen and, of course, two hands holding weapons. This trailer gives even the most jaded first person shooter veteran something new to chew on. The stylized but realistic graphics are also quite a bit of a draw. The game appears not to focus so much on picture quality realism (although there’s quite a bit of that) but on the gray area between photorealism and a macabre/twilight effect.
I like what I see. There’s a distinctive art sensibility throughout that matches the occult subject matter. The stairwell scene does have faint residues of a Matrix scene. Regardless, the action afforded by the two extra tentacles makes for quite an out of this world and definitely an out of the ordinary experience. Sure, it’s gnarly to see people tossed up and sliced into two but the appeal of this game lies elsewhere. It has quite a bit of potential despite the surface violence – although that, I’m sure, is quite a draw as well. The Darkness 2 debuts in October and is published by 2K games.
