The Darkness 2, as hardcore fans know, was inspired by a supernatural horror comic book series from Top Cow Productions, Inc. IT was developed by Digital Extremes. The second instalment is the continuation of Jackie Estacado’s story. Estacado is the head of a New York crime family who also happens to have control over the Darkness, which is an ancient force of chaos. In the demo, gamers get to be Jackie once again. they get to fight off hordes of enemies that will be beaten off with the protagonist’s demonic abilities. The original hit title was released back in 2007. The sequel comes with a new combat mechanic that allows players to slash, grab and throw objects and enemies using two Demon Arms that can also fire two weapons at the same time. The graphic noir style is still present, which is telling of its comic book origins as well as highly appropriate in this game of dark versus light.
The Darkness 2 will be coming to North America for the Xbox 360 video console from Microsoft as well as to the PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows on February 7, 2012. The title will be available internationally on February 10, 2012. Note that the game has been given a rating of M for Mature by the ESRB. Well, with a showdown between good and evil involved and demonic abilities controlled by the main character, what can you expect?
