Twisted Metal: Sony signs Deal with Film Director
Word has it that Sony has just signed a movie deal with Brian Taylor, who is a film writer and director. Taylor wrote the screenplay for Jonah Hex and the latest Ghost Rider. He co-directed and co-wrote the two Crank movies. So what is he doing signing a deal with Sony? Apparently, the racing combat game Twisted Metal is going to be made into a movie. Avi and Ari Arad of the Spider-Man series in film, will reportedly produce the movie if it ever becomes a reality.
If plans go well, then the screenplay will basically follow the games’ story. There will be a group of driving and combat competitors who will be going against each other in a deadly race. This race has a double-edged price, which is a wish from Calypso. It sounds very double-edged because you don’t really want to go on making deals with someone who seems to be the very Devil himself. However, competitors such as Sweet Tooth and Doll Face are desperate enough to fight. They want their wishes. Though there really is a background story for the characters and there is a basic premise, Twisted Metal can be molded, or twisted you may say, into how Taylor wants it to become. This is because gamers have not really become attached to the story. The premise is interesting enough but gamers come to play, race and fight.

Hopefully, this movie becomes a reality. I am sick and tired of having to wait for films based on games after they have been enthusiastically announced. I do not want to have to add Twisted Metal to a list of game that I thought I will be able to watch on the big screen. I want to watch this film, preferably not too far into the future.
