PS Vita: Sony Boat Sank But Two Toms Safe Now
The new handheld PlayStation Vita won’t be making it to the West until February of 2012 but two guys named Tom already have their own PS Vita. Well, it was the name of the boat they were rowing to get across the Atlantic Ocean. No, they were not trying to deliver portables to other countries but they were part of a month-race. I do feel like I am in a race, a two month one, towards the Vita.
But I will get serious now. The PS Vita actually sank and the Toms were luckily rescued. Tom Sauer and Tom Fancett floated in the ocean holding on to a lifeboat for ten hours overnight.
According to their blog: “At apr 8.00 pm last night (dec 13) Tom and myself were just changing places. The ocean was quite calm. We were in great spirits after the first 8 days in the race. Suddenly our boat was rocked by an enormous wave- the size of which we’ve never seen before. Our boat was thrown over and capsized. The cabin flooded. We desperately tried to turn the boat back up again- but to no avail. In fact our PSVita/teamtom boat started to sink”.
These Toms are survivors, however. Luckily, they also have a working life raft and some life jackets. They were rescued by the Crystal Cruise Ocean Liner after their ten hour ordeal. While they did not win the race they worked hard for, at least they had been rescued and are very safe.

So what does this say about the Vita? Well, nothing really but I sure hope we don’t have to go through a long ordeal just to get hold of the handheld.
