PS Vita: Pre-Orders In Hong Kong Soar
The PlayStation Vita has been making great waves in the Far East. Gamers in Hong Kong are in such frenzy over the upcoming handheld portable console. They can already pre-order the machine. Consequently, both online stores and retail outlets are feeling the heat, jammed-packed and even positively mobbed.
The Vita will be launching in Hong Kong on December 23. With less than a month to go, the pre-order events are causing some pretty long queues. In the Far East, this type of anticipation is not just limited to Hong Kong. Japanese retailers actually had to cut off pre-orders because there is just too much of a demand for the console.
The handheld console will be launching in Japan on December 17, a few days earlier than in Hong Kong. Recognizing the strong need of fans to get hold of the machine, some stores such as Bic Camera, Softmap and Yodobashi Camera have re-opened orders for the Vita. According to a recent survey, Japanese gamers have cited Vita as their most wanted hardware to buy.
In the West, however, a lot more waiting has to happen. The Vita will be launching on February 22, 2012, which feels like a long, long way from today. Anyway, we still cannot yet feel the urgency of the Vita pre-orders at the moment but maybe we will not really feel it at the same intensity. After all, the Vita will be released in the Far East during the holidays, a time when everyone is looking not just for something to buy for themselves but also for their friends and family.
