PS Vita: New Handheld Plays Sega Genesis Games

Some developers are just talking about giving its games controls that go back to the Genesis days. But now it seems that there are already Genesis games being played on the new handheld PlayStation Vita. The handheld has not been out for a month yet and only in the East for now but a Genesis game Sonic & Knuckles was already seen running on it.

Don’t worry, though. Nobody has gone through the trouble and the risk of cracking open the new Sony handheld. Instead, the Genesis emulator in question here was actually originally built for the PSP and is currently running through the PlayStation Vita’s very own PSP emulation. In short but not necessarily in simpler terms, an emulator is made to run inside another emulator. The clips that show the Genesis game being played, however, is “just useful for research right now.” Sony plans to put in some security measures that will render the exploit useless when it has been made available. However, players will always try to get into things even if it is technically not allowed or possible. They will still try to break into the PlayStation Vita to get at the exploit. Hopefully, they do know what they are doing if they decide to go through with the breaking in.

For now, I am just standing by for the latest updates about the handheld and about any other Genesis games. I don’t really like to try things that I am not sure of. I am cautious that way.
