PS Vita: Japan’s Favorite Game

At this point, we already know that the Sony PlayStation Vita had already launched in Japan and the result is not as expected. The promotions for Sony’s new handheld device were met with a lot of fanfare. So it is hard to believe that the portable will meet with disappointing sales results instead.

The game line-up for the Vita is decent enough. Heading the roster is Uncharted Golden Abyss. The title has been considered by many to be the top game of the launch for the next-gen handheld. However, the franchise may not be as popular in Japan as in the West.

Again, there may be surprises in store for you in terms of the games’ rankings in terms of sales are. Media Create has released these rankings.

The games that launched together with the Vita are doing pretty well. These games include Hot Shots Gold 6, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Ridge Racer Dynasty Warriors Next and more.  Instead of Golden Abyss taking on the lead, Hot Shot Gold 6 reigns supreme as the Sony PS Vita’s bestselling game during the launch.

During launch week, Hot Shots Golf 6 managed to sell 61,500 units while Uncharted Golden Abyss sold 48,200 units. Dynasty Warriors Next sold around 29,200 units. Lord of Apocalypse and Disgaea 3 Return join the three other titles to round up the top five. You may be able to see the top ten list below:

  1. Hot Shots Golf 6
  2. Uncharted Golden Abyss
  3. Dynasty Warriors Next
  4. Lord of Apocalypse
  5. Disgaea 3 Return
  6. Ridge Racer
  7. Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru
  8. Dream Club Zero Portable
  9. Katamari Damacy Novita
  10. Shionido 2

Will this list hold when the next-gen handheld finally launches in the States this coming February 2012? Oh, that is next month already! I also wonder if the Vita will be fare better in terms of sales in the US and Europe.
