Yakuza – Dead Souls: GameStop Pre-order Bonuses Revealed

Japanese Developer Sega releases a new trailer for Yakuza – Dead Souls, the sixth installment to the Yakuza series. Called “It’s Good To Have Friends,” the trailer showcases the main characters, plus the zombies, as they run over the streets of Tokyo. It also revealed the bonuses for those who pre-order the title at GameStop.

Ryuji Goda, Goro Majima, Kazuma Kiryu, and Shun Akiyama, members of the Yakuza and the game’s four main characters, fight hordes of zombies in the city’s red light district, armed with serious weaponry, no less. The trailer shows the gameplay, which looks similar to that in the predecessors. Sega did announce earlier that the game will have the control schemes used in many shooter games. So players can see the game through the perspective of any of the four characters. Majima and Ryuji were not playable in previous titles. Dead Soul players also can get to zoom in on the guns they are using, a common feature in shooter games but is used for the first time in the series. Earlier titles laid more emphasis on mass combat rather than fighting from an individual perspective. In addition to fighting the zombies, Ryuji, Majima, Kazuma, and Shun will still have to battle the Japan’s criminal underworld.

The trailer also features the bonuses available for gamers who will pre-order the title at GameStop, namely the God Bless America Pack and the Dansetsu Pack. The first pack will have costumes and other items meant for the AI hostesses in the game. The latter will contain new weapons that can be used by the players and their AI partner. There is also a bonus karaoke sequence, casino weapons upgrade and cutscenes. The game is scheduled for release on March 2012 for Europe and North America.
