World Gone Sour: Game Set to Make you Sour in April

Boasting of a soundtrack with an original song from Method Man, the game based on the Sour Patch Kids candy, World Gone Sour, is set for release come April 11 on Xbox Live Arcade and April 10 on the Playstation Network. A game based on candy?

Before you do a double take and say “Wait, what?,”  we are telling you that yes, it’s going to happen. Disney made a movie out of one of its theme parks. Maybe you’ve heard of it. It starred Johnny Depp. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” made more money than the annual budgets of a few small US states. The point is, cross genre media projects can succeed commercially so why not turn candy brands into video games, right? Besides, Capcom has already done candy-/food brand-based titles like Yo! Noid and The California Raisins. The purely downloadable World Gone Sour game is a tie-in with the very popular Sour Patch Kids candy.

[SPOILER ALERT]

If you want to play this game, you might want to steer clear of the trailer that was released recently by Capcom. The “story trailer” was supposed to clue us in on the game but it looks awfully like the game’s ending sequence. The game involves a Sour Patch Kid who got lost and he jumps and runs his way from a movie theater (you know, a movie theater-a building with nasty dirty sticky floors) and out into the real world as it seeks to enter a candy lover’s mouth. Yummy… except for the filthy theater floor part. Anyway, the game is narrated by the Office’s Creed and has a new jam from Method Man.
