The Last of Us: This is What Ellie and Joel Must Face
Naughty Dog, developers of Uncharted 3 – Drake’s Deception, have just tweeted a bust of the terrifying foes in their latest game, the PS3 exclusive, The Last of Us. Protagonists Ellie and Joel are endlessly pursued in a world where the majority of the human race have fallen victim to a terrible fungal infection that has turned them in to the creatures you see below.
Now I warn you, these images are certainly not for the squeamish or faint hearted. To be perfectly honest I feel a bit queasy just having to look at them to write this article (see what I have to suffer?!). It has been a really long time since I could honestly say that the foes in a zombie game have actually been terrifying. I think the last time I got a zombie related shock like this one it was playing Left 4 Dead and a Witch tried to claw my eyes out for the first time in the pitch black. Now please feel free to correct me in the comment section below, because this is of course all just a matter of opinion. But I find this bust to be particularly disturbing.

I think the main reason why I find it so scary is that this monster is so alien and yet so human at the same time. The Naughty Dog artists really do seem to have got the balance right here. It is all very well and good creating a 3D model, but we will have to see if Naughty Dog can pull of such a scary creature in the virtual world. However looking at their track record of quality with the Uncharted Series. They undoubtedly will.
