Silent Hill HD Collection: Launch Trailer Brings Back the Thrills
The Silent Hill HD Collection is now available in the US and should make it to Europe’s shores come March 29. The game has a new trailer out and it truly recaptures why thriller game fans love this series. The one minute trailer brings us back to the elements of Silent Hill 2 and 3 that brought chills down our spines.
Interestingly enough, this trailer is quite new although it has the old January 24 release date on it. Marketing department blooper? It might be good for a chuckle the meat of the trailer is no laughing matter. It is still scary after all these years. Maybe the blooper at the end of the trailer is a much needed distraction. You’ll need one after watching the part with Heather in the fair ground. Scary. Disturbing. Haunting. Just three of the words that are often used when describing this game series. Part of what makes the Silent Hill series psychologically thrilling is because, unlike scary movies, you are a participant. You actually get inside the game and you participate. This level of interactivity takes horror games to places horror movies can’t go. In the movies, you are a spectator.
The only interactivity is that annoying dude who yells at the screen or yells out spoilers. No, in video games, you are are in the thick of the action. This makes for a more immersive and personal experience.
