Rock Band 3: Next DLC Only Compatible with Rock Band 3
For Rock Band 3 fans, there are some good news and bad news. Good news — the game that has allowed plenty of gamers to live out their rock fantasies and play their favorite instruments for hours with more DLCs from developer Harmonix. The bad news is that all future DLCs after October 26, 2010 will only work with Rock Band 3. This means new content won’t be compatible anymore with earlier Rock Band versions. According to a rep from Harmonix, changes in instruments, cues, lighting, venue, and authoring standards have made early versions incompatible with future DLCs.
If you want to enjoy future DLCs, you should definitely upgrade and purchase the Rock Band 3 version. Aside from DLC compatibility issues, other reasons why Rock Band 3 is a must-have include better graphics, a more customizable character creator, improved calibration, better career mode, and better quickplay. Loading time is also a lot faster compared to earlier versions. The option to save your setlists is also now available through the quickplay mode. Rock Band 3 also includes preloaded playlists.

You may have to shell out more money in order to upgrade to Rock Band 3 and continue making sweet music, but it’s all worth it since this latest version offers a whole new gaming experience. To avoid accidental music downloads among Rock Band 1 and 2 gamers, all new songs will not be included in the earlier versions’ playlists. Plus, all the music you’ve downloaded before the October 26 date will not be affected with incompatibility issues.
