Prototype 2: Timeline Trailer Brings Us Up to Speed On Game’s Story

The latest trailer for Prototype 2, the upcoming open world action game gives us a quick refresher on what happened during the first installment of Prototype. The trailer tells the story of Blackwatch, a US government-created organization that was supposed to stand guard against biological attacks. Sadly, Blackwatch ended up creating Blacklight, an extremely virulent biological weapon that went on to infect Manhattan, New York.

The trailer proceeds to retell the story line of the first Prototype title. In fact, the trailer does such a good job grounding the viewer into the lore of this series that we strongly recommend anyone looking to play Prototype 2 to check out the trailer and get a good grasp of the game’s story.

If you didn’t get to enjoy the first game, you should definitely check it out. While the backstory of biological terrorism makes for a rich narrative grounding for the game, the game’s main appeal is its all out action sequences and the protagonist’s ability to rip stuff up. It’s kind of a weird mash up between the movie I am Legend and the Incredible Hulk – a fascinating blend of artificially induced and enhanced superhuman strength and an apocalyptic world ravaged by biological threats.

Prototype 2 will be out on April 24 in North American on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PC version is slated to be released on July 24.
