Project Ogre: Will Hideo Kojima’s Project Ogre come to the PC?
Titles in Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid franchise rarely if ever get released to PC. Kojima, however, is working on a new project dubbed as “Project Ogre”. This still mysterious game could be released to PC.
Not a whole lot yet has been revealed about Project Ogre but it is supposed to be an open world adventure. Kojima told CNN that it will have “a very wide entrance, a very open entrance.” Kojima had chosen to veer away from the blockbuster style of the Metal Gear Solid series and to turn to the Skyrim open world style but with a modern day setting. Kojima said that he had decided not to go for cinematic this time but for “something very free.”
It is believed that the game will run on Kojima’s Fox Engine. It will be a multiplatform game that will be compatible with a PS3 cotnroller, an Xbox controller and a mouse. The mouse referred to here could be referring to Wii U’s new controller but it is very much possible that the game is making it to PC.
Kojima had also posted an image through his Twitter account. This image showed a Fox engine render made by one of the game’s programmers. It is alleged that the image had been put together in just about an hour. The engine seems to be capable of showing realistic dust particles and translucent clothing. It seems to be pretty impressive. The screenshots kind of remind you of the tropics found in Far Cry 2. Now, what we really want to know is if Kojima can really completely let go of his linear gaming style for this new project.
